Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award 2015 is given to photographer Timo Kelaranta. The award is given by Finnish Art Society for older artists in recognition of significant life’s work .

DUCAT PRIZE

DUCAT PRIZE 2015 was given to the visual artist Tuomo Rainio. The Ducat Prize is founded in 1858 and it is the oldest art award in Finland. It is presented by the Art Society annually to a young Finnish artist under 35 in recognition of special merit.

Book launch of Archive Play

Book launch of Archive Play

Archive Play is a joint effort between the artists Hertta Kiiski and Niina Vatanen and the curator Mirjami Schuppert. The book is a tentative and imaginative exploration into the photographic archive as generator of multiple meanings. The bodies of work by the artists were created as a response to the Helvi Ahonen collection, housed at the Finnish Museum of Photography. The book launch will take place at Photographic Gallery Hippolyte in Helsinki.

The State Prize for Photographic Art to Sanna Kannisto

The State Prize for Photographic Art was awarded to Sanna Kannisto for her artistic work which combines nature photography, key issues of photographic art and science-based ways of displaying nature. The Prize was given by the National Council for Visual Arts in Finland.
