Parantainen, who constantly seeks to further his conceptual ap-proaches and working methods, describes his artistic practice as an attempt to combine the medium of photography with other forms of art. Throughout his career, he has become well known for crossover formats in which two- and three-dimensional elements are combined. When producing new works, the stage of conceiving and preparing them forms a fundamental part of the creative process, which Parantainen likens to the process of writing a script for a film. In terms of content, he says that they "offer a stage for strong emotions and mental states of negative pleasure. My works are a study in beauty and horror, and sudden moments of irrevocable catastrophe. i also construct commentaries on humanity and art, always with at least an undertone of absurdist humor.”
